Lydia is a queer woman of colour who isn't afraid to get involved in what matters to her. She is vocal and tries to amplify intersectional feminist content created by people of colour and people who are LGBTQIA2s+, body and s*x positive. Adoring new challenges and getting out of her comfort zone, she started modeling 3 years ago, which quickly became a passion. Lydia hopes to be the representation of Quebec diversity that she did not have when she was younger and to show that having a body that is different from conventional beauty standards is valuable.
What detail of your practice do you always try to highlight?
The diversity! Growing up in Quebec as a fat woman of color, I only saw people like me in the background, if at all—rarely were they in important roles. So I’m trying to change this by putting myself forward. I tell myself that even if only one person feels represented, I will have done my job. My practice is inclusive and diverse and I believe that now more than ever it is time for this to be the case for everyone.
