LIA (she/her)
Lia is a Maryland-born, Montreal-based singer-songwriter and producer. Her sugary vocals and poetic state of mind have earned her support from outlets such as Exclaim!, Le Devoir, CBC, BBC Radio 1 along with syncs for Samsung SK, MTV, and Netflix. Most recently, she’s lent her vocals and lyrics to producers Apashe and IMANU in addition to creating her debut album and fronting her band Afternoon Bike Ride. Lia's lyrics explore the individual human experience as well as our collective existence as a species, often inspired by climate change, capitalism, dystopia, life purpose, and love.
What is the most important detail in your practice?
Connection. We’re all striving to be connected in one way or another to each other, to ourselves, to the earth, to art. I’m trying to connect with my audience but also my community through the art that I do. I’m truly blessed to have made so many connections over time with creatives and art lovers, it’s what has made my life and my practice rich and inspiring.
