LEINA (she/her)
Leina is a freelance writer and aspiring journalist based in Montreal. She hails from Japanese and Ethiopian parents and grew up all over the world, an experience that has shaped her taste, perspective, and aspirations. Much like the writer she aspires to be, Leina's interests are diverse. She is passionate about music, film, identity politics, cooking, and how these topics shape local and international communities.
What is the most important detail in your practice?
Without being too meta, I think the most crucial detail in writing is the details themselves. I believe that it is the unique details of a person, an experience, or a place that give a story heart. Both in my writing and my everyday life, I try to be observant and appreciative of all of the intricacies and quirks that add a little more color to the world.
