KATIA (she/her)
Katia is a Russian-Canadian actor, published writer, and model. After graduating from McGill University with a major in political science and a double minor in history and communication studies, she decided to pursue art as a full-time career and to lead a life that is both creatively fulfilling and purposeful. Whenever she’s not actively working on growing as an artist or pouring her soul out on paper, Katia enjoys reading and the company of her cat.
What is the most important detail in your practice?
I find that the most important detail in my practice is sensitivity. I firmly believe that in order to create art, one must be deeply connected to their emotions. I think that in today’s world we are not giving ourselves enough room to be unapologetically sensitive and soft. As someone who openly struggles with my mental health and aims to help destigmatize this topic, I hope that I can find a way to connect with people as an artist, whether it is as a performer or a writer. I hope to encourage people to embrace their sensitivity, as I am learning to.
