Léa, also known as courgette, is a queer half-Haïtian model and an aspiring writer who is inspired by decolonial thinking and being deeply involved in her communities. She is strongly influenced by the journeys of the Afrodescendant womxn around her and the creative forces that give meaning to our daily lives. She sees modeling as a form of expression that allows her to mend her relationship with her body and discover new ways of creating collaboratively. Léa strives to be part of a more inclusive fashion industry by remaining authentic and by helping to raise the voices of those who are too often excluded.

What inspires you most in your practice?

Understanding is what inspires me the most in my practice, as it is, in my opinion, the foundation to respect, consideration and safety—toward myself and others. Whether it is in my writing, my collaboration practices, or my everyday life, I strive to understand as much as I can so I can explore things profoundly, connect with people, and experience them consciously and fully.
